The Good Things on the Internet (Besides Me).

Molly Ivins is fun, yes, but she's also necessary. Ivins is a Texas-based newspaper columnist who writes well and truly. Just read, and have a little sense of current affairs.

RevolutionSF.com: News, humour, reviews, contests, and anything else one could want related to anything in the sci-fi, fantasy, horror, anime, comics, or speculative genres. I've been a faithful daily (now weekly) reader since 1999 when the same guys ran zealot.com (which went under).

TheOneRing.net: THE Tolkien resource online. They've got everything related to the movies and nearly as much on the books--and whatever they don't have, they have a link to. My favorite is the Q & A section.

The Encyclopedia of Arda: The other Tolkien resource online--a cross-referenced encyclopedia of all things LOTR. Many of the entries are unfinished, but they should at least give you a general idea to clear up confusion.

The Very Secret Diaries: This would fit under the category of LOTR humor. It's slash-oriented humor, and if you don't know what that means, you probably don't want to read them. But they're completely hysterical; be a pervy hobbit-fancier just like everyone else!

Neil Gaiman.com: Neil Gaiman is, if not my most favoritest author ever, way high up there on the list. His website is chock-full of information, including a blog that he himself personally updates generally a few times a day. Read and enjoy.

Dave Barry's Blog: If you don't know who Dave Barry is, then you've been living under a rock for the last fifteen years. He's an author with a blog, too. Go, bask in the silliness that he is Not Making Up.

IMDb.com: The Internet Movie Database lists pretty much every actor and every crew member for every film made EVER. It's an incredibly helpful and fun resource site for anyone with even a passing interest in film.

Früvous.com: Moxy Früvous is a favorite band of mine, and of most of my friends. Unfortunately they seem to be on a permanent hiatus, but you should visit their site anyway.

Guster.com: Guster is another favorite band, although perhaps a more widely popular one than Moxy Früvous. They're also pretty much nothing alike except that they're both comprised of guys with talent. Guster is also a very active group, so you might actually be able to learn something useful on their site.

Rhymes With Orange: "Rhymes With Orange" is a nationally synditcated comic strip drawn by a woman from Northampton, MA. It's scathingly funny, and you can read it online.

Real Life Comics: "Real Life" is a webcomic drawm by some guy named Greg who lives in California. He's really quite good, and the stip (daily, M-F) will really touch the inner geek in you. But not in that way.

"Gonads and Strife," or, "Weeeeeee!": I can't explain it, and I can't help it. This is one of those strange flash animations. But it's funny. It circulated around my friends and my workplace for a while, and so I hold a special place for it in my heart. Or maybe that's my spleen.

HomeStarRunner.com: A couple of friends started reading Strongbad's e-mail every couple of days, and before I knew it, every college student I knew was hooked. Yes, it's dumb. Yes it's a whole pointless flash site. But it's a funny one. So there.
